It’s Making it Count Tuesday! Every week, Sarah and I are co-hosting the Making it Count Tuesday link-up. Start with any one of those fabulous ideas you have found online. Then, do it. Make it. Cook it. Create it. Take it from the screen, give it life and let it bless your world. When you’re done, snap a photo, write about it and share it with us.  Make your time online count.

Did you get my reference to The Stand? Geek! (Good book that one. Got to stop thinking about it or Flagg will be on my brain tonight when I am trying to sleep.) Ahem. Back on topic.

So, I found this fun-looking moon phases idea a couple of months ago and have been saving it for just the right time. We started the moon chapter in our space study today, so today was the day.

Basically we just talked about the phases, I tried to demonstrate with a basketball and flashlight (jury’s still out on the effectiveness of this), and then we worked together to make the moon models. The take-aways I wanted to them to get was that the moon changes because it travels around the earth and to learn the names: new, full, crescent, and half (gibbous would be a bonus). Mission accomplished with many Oreos consumed (by the kids — I was good and only had two).

This will definitely be a “remember the time” moment.
